The Conference of Irish Geographers
The Conference of Irish Geographers is the annual conference of the Geographical Society of Ireland (GSI), in association with the wider geographical community in Ireland. Over the years the Conference has played a key role in facilitating networking among the academic, policy and practice communities, and has welcomed international colleagues including Prof David Harvey, Prof Helga Leitner, Prof Mike Raco, Dr Harriet Hawkins, Prof Nigel Roulet and public figures, such as Robert Fisk, as keynote speakers.
Through a varied programme of paper, poster, workshop and fieldtrip sessions as well as social events, the Conference of Irish Geographers has become an important and enriching part of the annual activities of the GSI. It has become an especially important event at which early career researchers benefit from significant career development opportunities.
The upcoming 54th Conference of Irish Geographers is being hosted by University College Dublin at the Talbot Hotel in Wexford, and runs from the 16th-19th of May 2023.
You can learn more about our upcoming and previous Annual Conferences through our dedicated CIG website.

GSI Annual General MeetingOur AGM takes place during the Conference of Irish Geographers. We encourage all of our members to attend the Society AGM to learn more about what the GSI has done in the previous year and what the Society plans to do in the next year.
The AGM includes annual Officer Reports, annual updates on the Society's Journal (Irish Geography), Annual Conference (the Conference of Irish Geographers) and Awards Programme, as well as updates on plans for upcoming events (e.g. IGC 2024). GSI Committee Elections are also held, and we encourage members who might be interested in taking part in the next year's committee to reach out to current committee members with any questions or queries. |
