We were delighted to have Jim Carroll from RTE Brainstorm with us at the Placing Geography outside the Campus session at this years CIG. In the session Shelagh Waddington presented about the current state of the geography in second level and Frank Haughton spoke about the issues of the tricky world of academic publishing. The session then opened up to the floor and a lively discussion was had about communicating the importance of geography to a wider audience.

Jim spoke about the Brainstorn initiative which is an unique partnership between RTÉ and Irish third level institutions, such as University College Cork, NUI Galway, University of Limerick, DCU, Dublin Institute of Technology, Ulster University, Maynooth University and the Irish Research Council RTÉ Brainstorm offers the academic and research community a more public platform to contribute to public debate, share research and reflect on what’s happening in the world.
